Amber Mitchell, Artistic Director, brings over 40 years experience in teaching theatre and education to Stageworks. She holds 3 teaching certificates from the State of Illinois: Theatre Education (Secondary), Music Education (Vocal) K-12, Elementary Education and received her Masters in Theatre - Directing from Roosevelt University – Chicago College of Performing Arts in Chicago (2015). Past productions under her direction have included casts of over 300 children! Amber’s favorite roles include performing as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof and Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man. Amber has experience in Stage Management (including assistant stage managing with Buffalo Theatre Ensemble – Equity) and has been the Lighting Designer for several seasons with the summer theatre program at North Central College in Naperville. Amber is also an adjunct faculty member of College of DuPage (Glen Ellyn) and Waubonsee Community College (Sugar Grove) teaching theatre.
Many of Amber’s students have continued their theatre training at the collegiate level and have performed professionally in regional theatre, the cruise ship industry, television, and film.
