VOCAL COMPONENT CLASSES

This program is designed to be taken multiple times in each age group. This program introduces vocal fundamentals of singing in a group setting and will offer performance opportunities. Through fun and dynamic activities, student will learn the basic foundations of vocal technique and ensemble singing, such as breath control, harmony, melody, pitch, blending, and tone. The goal is to create a well-rounded vocalist with healthy vocal technique. All students will also learn how to apply what they have learned to achieve a positive vocal performance.

Exploring Your Voice in Musical Theatre (Grades 2 – 4) – This class focuses on proper singing technique for the developing voice. Students will learn appropriate vocal technique, musical expression, care of the voice and sight singing. Musical theatre, Disney and “Glee” type repertoire will be used in class.

Refining Your Voice in Musical Theatre (Grades 5 – 8) – Healthy, age appropriate singing with techniques in breath control, phrasing, musical interpretation and expression. Musical Theatre, 

Broadway Voice (Grades 9 – 12) – Expand your vocal and dramatic skills together in this exploration of what it takes to be a successful musical theatre singer.  Working with classic and contemporary Broadway songs, you will learn to connect your vocal skills to the dramatic intention critical to developing confidence as a performer.  The class will focus on songs as monologues and how the singer learns to act the song.

Private voice, piano and acoustic guitar instruction is available upon request.

Each class term will end with an open class during which families and friends are invited to see what the students have learned in class.
